Welcome to Semiotic ("we", "our", or "us"), a product of EGODEATH LLC. We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and the choices you have.

We collect the following types of data to provide and improve Semiotic:

A. Information You Provide

• Dream entries and personal journal content
• Optional profile data (such as name, email, age range, belief systems, gender identity)
• User preferences, tags, and settings
• Messages and interactions with AI tools
• Shared content, if you choose to share and/or publish your dreams

B. Automatically Collected Information

• Device information (model, operating system version, locale)
• App usage statistics (such as which features are used and how often)
• Crash reports and diagnostics (collected through Sentry)
• IP address and general location data (for security and service delivery)

C. Sensitive Information

With your explicit consent, we may also process:

• Dream content and symbolic elements for AI interpretation
• Emotional or psychological insights inferred from entries (used only for interpretive purposes)
• Dreams you choose to share publicly or within community features (visibility is controlled by you)

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide personalized dream analysis, journaling tools, and symbolic insight
• Securely store and sync your data across sessions
• Improve app functionality, user experience, and AI accuracy
• Offer tailored prompts and interpretations based on your preferences
• Ensure security and prevent fraud or abuse

• With your consent, use anonymized data to discover patterns or trends across users

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your data. We only share information in the following cases:

Service Providers

• Supabase: Stores your account data, dream entries, and app preferences
• Anthropic: Processes dream content for AI analysis (only when you request analysis)
• RevenueCat: Processes subscription and purchase data to manage app subscriptions and billing
• Sentry: Receives crash reports and technical diagnostics (no personal content)

These providers operate under their own privacy policies and are bound by strict confidentiality agreements. They are not allowed to use your data for purposes other than providing their designated services.

Legal Requirements

When legally required to comply with law enforcement, court orders, or other legal processes.

With Your Permission

When you explicitly choose to publish or share dreams within the app's community features.

4. Data Security

• All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
• Data is stored using Supabase's encrypted storage systems
• Role-based access controls limit internal access to your data
• Regular security audits and monitoring
• Dream entries are treated as highly sensitive information
• We retain access logs for security monitoring

Important: While we implement strong security measures, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

5. Data Retention

• Active accounts: Data retained while your account is active
• Deleted accounts: Most data deleted within 30 days of account deletion
• Legal compliance: Some data may be retained longer if required by law
• Anonymized analytics: May be retained indefinitely after removing personal identifiers

You may request account deletion at any time through the app or by emailing support@semiotic-app.com.

6. Your Rights and Choices

• Access: View and download your data within the app
• Edit: Modify or update your information at any time
• Delete: Remove specific entries or delete your entire account
• Control: Choose whether dreams are analyzed by AI
• Opt-out: Disable analytics, notifications, and community features
• Portability: Export your data in a readable format

For California Residents

• Right to know what personal data we collect and how it's used
• Right to request deletion of your personal data
• Right to opt out of the sale of personal data (we do not sell personal data)
• Right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights

7. Geographic Restrictions

Semiotic is currently designed for users in the United States and Canada. We do not actively market to or target users outside the US and Canada. If you access the app from outside the US or Canada, you do so at your own discretion and are responsible for compliance with local laws.

8. Age Requirements

Semiotic is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we discover we have collected data from someone under 18, we will delete it promptly.

9. Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will:

• Notify affected users via email within 72 hours of discovering the breach
• Provide details about what information was involved
• Explain steps we're taking to address the breach
• Offer guidance on protecting yourself

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in:

• App features or functionality
• Legal requirements
• Privacy practices or security measures

Significant changes will be communicated via:

• Email notification to registered users
• In-app notification upon next login
• 30-day advance notice when possible

Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
